What To Do and What Not To Do When Applying Your Own ManeMaxx® Hair Extensions

Don’t roll the TemBond® as in fusion bonding!  Never press or roll the wet bond into the hair when applying.  When applying the TemBond®, you allow the bond to form itself for the majority of the body of the bond.

There are a few detailed steps you need to note about how you are applying your TemBond® bonds for your strand-by-strand hair extensions.

Anytime I speak to someone struggling with the method or experiencing bond loss, it is typically BECAUSE they are PRESSING THE BOND INTO THE HAIR or taking too long to line the hair up.  I can only say, practice the method and DON'T do this!!!

Also, make sure you bond is HOT enough to seep through all the hairs you are attaching to. Typically, your pot is on the near highest setting. Be sure your TemBond® is stirred while applying. Use your spatula to scrape the drying material (which sinks to the bottom of the pot) and mix it thoroughly. If you leave the drying material to settle and use just the wet, runny material on top, your bonds will be too soft.

NEVER PRESS OR ROLL THE WET TEMBOND® INTO YOUR HAIR WHEN APPLYING!

You will only gently guide the dipped extension to your own hair, not touching any bond and barely putting pressure at the top and bottom of the area you are attaching.

DO NOT PRESS OR ROLL A BOND WHILE YOUR HAIR IS WET (AFTER WASHING, FOR EXAMPLE.)

You may more aggressively roll and shape the complete body of your bonds while they are somewhat flexible and completely dry.

DO NOT HANDLE THE BOND UNTIL IT HAS SET FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AFTER APPLYING.

Be gentle for a few hours until your bond has fully cured.

Getting the Best Hair Extension Wear for Yourself
It is SO important to get a ruler and make the CORRECT size of bonds for the best wear of the hair extensions.  It might take practice, but try to avoid results in the picture on the left and go smaller like the picture on the right. The TemBond® should never be pressed into the hair or scalp with your fingers.

More About Your Bonds
Once you have finished those first steps and after the attachment has taken hold, you may GENTLY roll any of the pinched bond around the hairs at the root. You can only do this if the bond is somewhat soft and flexible. If it is hard and you FORCE the roll, you could break your bond and make it susceptible to soaking up water while washing and further breaking up the bond from the inside out.

Soft and Hard Bonds
After a bond has set, you may, at times, notice a flexibility. When this occurs it will allow for gentle rolling of the body of your bonds. You do not ever want to force rolling of a hard bond but you may force the rolling of a flexible bond.

Humidity does make a difference in how fast your bond dries to accommodate rolling. In very dry/cool air you may get no chance to roll just after placing the bond and thus will want to wait until you have washed your hair and allowed it to dry for many hours before shaping and rolling gently.

In high humidity situations the bond will stay flexible longer, thus allowing for gentle rolling JUST AT THE TIP TOP and around the root while applying. If you like this option better, it may help to warm up the area in which you will be applying or use a humidifier/space heater to increase the warmth and dampness in the air.
